First Lady Mirta Hudson

 
 

Mirta Angelita Hudson was born to Mr.  & Mrs. Frederick H. Gibbs on the island of Aruba.  Her family later relocated to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, where she attended Jr. High and High School. She graduated from Milikin University with a Bachelor of Science Degree concentrating in Biology and Religion. It was there, in 1979, where she married Rev. Hilliard C. Hudson.

Mirta is the first lady of Pilgrim Baptist church of South Chicago, where her husband is the pastor.  She has dedicated her life to education particularly the education of children. She has taught in the private school system, the Greater New Era Baptist District Association of Chicago & Vicinity, the Baptist General State Congress of Christian Education of Illinois, the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, and is an instructor in Pilgrim’s Enrichment Hour and Youth Ministry.  As a writer for the Sunday School Publishing Board, she has written Bible lessons, the Activity Study Book and the Nurture series for the Primary Department.

She has conducted several workshops and spoken for many occasions in the Chicago Metropolitan area. She is the proud mother of five beautiful children: Shayla, Brandon, Saunya, Christopher and Kristina.
